Extended EP

01. Stayin' Alive (Extended Version)
02. Night Fever (Extended Version)
03. More Than A Woman (Extended Version)
04. You Should Be Dancing (Extended Version)

This unique release included all the before mentioned tracks from Saturday Night Fever, but they were the extended editions of the songs that we all know and love. Stayin’ Alive is expanded by additional horn licks and chorus repeats that add to the vibe of the original song. The extended versions of Night Fever and More Than A Woman are great and similarly extended by chorus repetition. You Should Be Dancing has an additional, and slightly longer, instrumental aspect towards the end of the song, it simply makes you want to keep dancing.

Even though this was billed as a solo show, Barry can’t escape the profound ties to family this music conjures, and he embraced this by featuring his oldest son Stephen and his niece Samantha (Maurice’s daughter) in the band, and by the inclusion of lots of video of the brothers including virtual performances by Robin. Near the end of the show he gave a brief meditation on his brothers that, while not revealing, was heartfelt and emotional.

On Hard Talk

BBC
Stephen Sackur talks to singer-songwriter and Bee Gee Robin Gibb, and asks if his band was really different from the packaged pop stars of today.

What does it take to make it in the music industry? In this era of TV talent shows, all-powerful producers and lip synching celebrities, it seems like marketing savvy matters more than a musical gift. Robin Gibb, with his brothers Maurice and Barry, formed the Bee Gees - one of the most successful pop bands ever. Their soundtrack for the movie Saturday Night Fever defined the disco era. Stephen Sackur asks if they were really different from the packaged pop stars of today.
